Carl Reiner was born on 20th March 1922 and went on to become a prolific
actor, director, producer, writer and comedian winning nine Emmy Awards
during his long career. His string of writing hits included the Dick Van
Dyke show, which as a pilot called Head of the Family, Carl Reiner was due
to take the lead role, however the network didn't feel he was properly cast. Over his long career he was the recipicient of many honours including eleven Emmy Awards, one Grammy Award, and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1999. He died on June 29th, 2020 at the age of 98.
