Charles Munroe Schulz was born on 26th November 1922 to a German father and Norwegian mother. He is best known for his comic strip Peanuts, featuring good ol' Charlie Brown and like Charlie Brown's parents, Schulz's father was a barber and his mother a housewife.

Peanuts ran for nearly 50 years and appeared in more than 2,600 newspapers in 75 countries until Charles Schulz had a stroke in 1999 leaving him unable to read or see clearly. He died from colon cancer on 12th February 2000.
