Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor was born in London, England, on February 27th 1932 to wealthy American parents, who returned to the US as world war loomed. A ten year old Elizabeth Taylor took the female lead in Lassie Come Home before becoming one of the few stars who performed well at the box office throughout the 1950s.

In 1963, Elizabeth Taylor became the highest paid film star to date when she accepted US$1 million to play the title role in the production of Cleopatra, however is equally well known for her string of marriages. The American Film Institute named Taylor seventh among the 'Greatest Female Stars of All Time'.
