Eric Sykes was born on 4th May 1923 and is best known for his television role starring alongside Hattie Jacques in the TV comedy show Sykes.

Eric Sykes has collected many awards during his lifetime and is honorary president of the Goon Show Appreciation Society. He is still working although rarely in lead roles.

From an older generation of comic actors he stated “All these old guys, they were exactly the same on stage as off, and they couldn't help being comedians.”
