Geremi, whose
full name is Geremi Sorele Njitap Fotso was born on 20th December in
Cameroon but moved to Europe in 1997 at the age of 18 to pursue a footballing career. He joined Newcastle United
on 6th July 2007 and was made captain, but was stripped of this role
when Kevin Keegan was appointed manager and the role was handed to new signing Michael Owen on 20 January 2008. Geremi's professional career ended
in 2010 having earned 118 caps for Cameroon from 1996 to 2010, scoring 13 goals.
