Harpo Marx was born Adolph Marx on 23rd November 1888 and was called Harpo as he had learned to play the instrument as he couldn't sing, dance or talk very well. He became part of a vaudeville group the Marx Brothers and was infamous for never talking during performances although would blow a horn or whistle to communicate with people.

He was married to his lifelong partner Susan and had four adopted children. When asked how many children he planned to adopt, he answered "I’d like to adopt as many children as I have windows. So when I leave, I want a kid in every window, waving goodbye." He died on 28th September 1964.
