Harry Houdini was born on 24th March 1874 as Ehrich Weiss and was a world famous magician and escape artist as well as an investigator of the spirit world. His family emigrated from Hungary to the USA when he was four. His stage name was gleaned from the French magician Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin and the derivative from his own nickname Ehrie.

Harry Houdini died from an illness connected to a ruptured appendix on 31st October 1931. In 2007 his grand nephew stated that he was going to file papers for an exhumation for evidence that in fact Houdini had died after being poisoned by spiritualists, however papers were never filed.
