Hilda Ogden was a fictional character from the long running serial drama Coronation Street played by actress Jean Alexander.

The character disappeared on Christmas day 1987 after 23 years when Alexander decided to quit the street after deciding the storylines were no longer her cup of tea.

Her departure was won the highest ever ratings for the programme, peaking at 27 million viewers.
