Igor Stravinsky was born in June 1882 in Russia as is considered by many to be the most influential composer of the last century. Amongst many memorable life experiences, perhaps one of the strangest happened when he was arrested on 15th April 1940 for violating a federal law that prohibited the reharmonization of the National Anthem.

Stravinsky sometimes became exasperated by those who heard his music stating " To listen is an effort, and just to hear is no merit. A duck hears also."
