When David Tennant announced that he was leaving Doctor Who, few would have thought that the young Matt Smith would have slipped so easily and eloquently into the role, yet he did just that and within just a few episodes had made the role his own, alongside Amy Pond, and of course, Rory. We'll miss them both when they leave the next series.

Yet somehow Stephen Moffat hasn't quite yet found the right balance with his scripts which are often overly complicated and simply not as much fun as with David Tennant period as the Doctor.
