Montgomery Burns, normally known as Mister Burns left his family at a young age and went to live with his grandfather, a heartless billionaire who owned an atom mill in Springfield, home of the Simpsons. As a teenager he amused himself by harming immigrant labourers. After the outbreak of World War II he served in the United States army under Sergeant Abraham Simpson and was later hired by president Truman to deliver a trillion dollar bill to aid the reconstruction of Europe, but the bill went missing.

The character of Mister Burns is aid to be based on Fredrik Olsen a Norwegian shipping magnate and the owner of Timex.
