President Bill Clinton was born
as William Jefferson Blythe III on 19th August 1946, taking his stepfather's
name of Clinton when be became 14yrs old. He went onto become the
forty-second President of the United States, succeeding President Bush and
after leaving office after two terms being succeeded by another President
Bush. He left office with a positive approval rating of 65%, the highest
rating of any president since the second World War.
Bill Clinton was as famous for
his sexual indiscretions as for his Presidency. As a young man he commented
"Politics gives guys so much power that they tend to behave badly around
women. And I hope I never get into that." But he did and ruefully commented
about the survey of journalists that ranked the Monica Lewinsky scandal as
the 53rd most significant story of the century, "What's a man got to do to
get in the top fifty?"
