Roger George Moore was born on 14th October 1927. A young Roger Moore first appeared in films during the mid to late-1940s, as an extra however it was not until 1961 that he actually found fame as a young Simon Templar in the TV adaptation of The Saint.

This was followed later as James Bond in which he took the title role for 12 years over seven films.

Roger Moore has the distinction of being the final guest star to appear on the The Muppet Show in the show's last episode in 1981, but perhaps he will always be remembered as the guy who replaced Sean Connery.
