Stephen Hawking was born on 8th January 1942 and is world known for his theoretical physics, notably the existence of black holes.

Educated at Oxford, the Cambridge, he developed a type of motor neuron disease which would eventually leave him almost paralysed. However this debilitating illness did not deter Hawking from his exploration of the universe.
