Yehudi Menuhin was born on 22nd April 1916 and became a world renowned violinist and conductor before his death on 12 March 1999. Born in the USA he spent most of his career performing in the UK before taking citizenship in 1985.

His love of music was clear "Music creates order out of chaos: for rhythm imposes unanimity upon the divergent, melody imposes continuity upon the disjointed, and harmony imposes compatibility upon the incongruous."

Yehudi Menuhin also commented of his favoured instrument, the violin, "The violinist is that peculiarly human phenomenon distilled to a rare potency - half tiger, half poet."
